WARRANT OFFICER TUAN T.H. JUNKEER – SRI LANKA AIR FORCE
Tuan Thasreen Hathim Junkeer was a student of St. John’s College Dematagoda and Zahira College Maradana, where he excelled in sports, especially Soccer and Hockey, representing College Junior and Senior teams in these events. He served the AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL UNIT (SPECIAL) from May 1977 to May 1999 for 22 years. During his service, he followed a number of local and overseas courses which strengthened his career record:
1. Ground Combat and Recruit Training at Diyatalawa
2. Basic and Advance course for Air Traffic Controllers at the Air Force Academy, China Bay, Trincomalee
3. Junior & Senior Non-commissioned Officers Man-Management Course at Diyatalawa
4. Instructional Technique Course at Academy, China Bay
5. Public Relations & Supervisory Management course at N.I.B.M.
6. Rehabilitation Fire Fighting at Katunayake
7. Advance Radar Operator Course at Fighter Control Training Unit at Dhaka Bangladesh Air Force
General:
1. Instructor & Examiner for Basic/Advance Air Traffic Controller Courses for Airmen & Officers
2. Liaison Officer for Public Relations Officer
3. Warrant Officer i/c of Helicopters Division, which is the Commercial Wing of the Air Force for Helicopter Charters, Flight Reservation, Ticketing and Passenger & Cargo Manifestation.
Sports Achievements:
· Represented St John's College in Junior Soccer. Represented Zahira College in Soccer & Hockey Senior Teams in 1972 & 1973
· Represented Colombo Schools in Hockey in 1972
· Represented Sri Lanka Hockey Federation Junior Team against Touring Pakistan Junior Team in 1974
· Represented Old Zahirians Colombo & Grass Hoppers Sports Club in Hockey
· Represented Colombo Hockey Association Greens Team in 01st Junior National Hockey Tournament
· Joined Sambamurthy & Company - Chartered Accountancy Firm as an Audit Trainee in 1974 and represented the company in Soccer Hockey & Cricket
· Represented Mercantile Hockey Association in Junior Hockey Nationals in 1975 & 1976
Joined Sri Lanka Air Force in 1977 and proved his sports skills with the following achievements:
· Represented Air Force Command Hockey & Athletic teams from 1977 to 1990
· Awarded & Re Awarded Air Force Colours for Hockey and Athletics
· Captained Air Force Hockey and Athletics Teams in 1984
· Awarded the Golden Eagle for most outstanding Hockey Player in 1984
· Toured India with Air Force Hockey Team in 1981
· Represented Defence Service's in Hockey in National Tournaments
· Awarded and Re Awarded Defence Service's Colours for Hockey
- Defence Service's were National Hockey Champions in 1985 and 1986

1. Awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Good Conduct Badges in 1981, 1985, 1989, 1993 & 1997 respectively
2. Awarded President’s Inauguration Medal
3. Awarded POORANA BHOOMI PADAKKAMA
4. Awarded Republic of SRI LANKA ARMED SERVICES LONG SERVICE MEDAL in 1990 & CLASP in 1997
5. Awarded VADAMARACHCHI CAMPAIGN MEDAL
6. Awarded RIVIRESA CAMPAIGN MEDAL
7. Awarded AIR FORCE 50TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY COMMEMMORATON MEDAL
