YEMENI TEENAGER WANTS JUSTICE AFTER ACID ATTACK
This is something that needs to be talked about more. Islamaphobes and people with an anti-muslim agenda use things like this to say "this is Islam", they say "abusing women is part of islam", they say "forced marriage is in islam".
The reality is this is far from anything to do with Islam at all. It is completely forbidden and anyone with a brain the size of a peanut would know this. I pray that this sister gets justice and the person responsible is caught. Her face and life has been changed forever and she won't get justice in this dunya, but in the court of Allah she will.
Abuse in marriage like this has nothing to do with islam. This girl was not a wife but she was a slave literally chained up at home as she describes. Another thing to point out is that forced marriage is forbidden and HARAM in islam. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said that a girl can ONLY be married with her consent. A father has no right to force his daughter to marry and have intercourse with a man she does not want to. It's forbidden and many scholars say the marriage itself is invalid.
In this situation, some people may blame the parents of this child. However, we also have to understand the situation of the people in Yemen. As this girl says herself, her mother gave her in marriage as she wanted to protect her, because incase the mother died she wouldn't have anyone.
Yemen is going through the greatest humanitarian crisis on earth. Many families are very very poor and feed on scraps not knowing when their next meal will be. Unfortunately, this creates a situation where they give their daughters in marriage so that she may be provided for by someone else, and so that they have enough to feed the rest of their kids. I've seen families like this living in dire situations. It's sad but this is whats happening. May Allah make it easy upon them and protect them.
