The Low Pressure Area in the Bay of Bengal is presently 7 Depression, 750 km southeast of Trincomalee.
It turned into a Deep Depression in the next 12 hours, followed by a hurricane in the next 12 hours.
(Cyclonic Storm) is expected to change.
It is expected to cross between Batticaloa and Mullaitivu later tomorrow (02) Wednesday.
Weather forecast released by the Indian Meteorological Department at 11.30 am today:
Depression in the Bay of Bengal region in the southeastern part of Sri Lanka has been moving west-northwest at a speed of 12 km per hour for the last 6 hours.
(30.11.2020 - 11.30am) 680 km east-southeast of Trincomalee and 1090 km east of Kanyakumari.
It intensifies over the next 12 hours into a deep depression, which in the next 24 hours turns into a cyclonic storm.
It will then move west-northwest and is expected to cross the coast of Sri Lanka between Mullaitivu (Kokkilai 9.0N) and Batticaloa (Kaluwanchikudi 7.5N) on the evening of the 2nd or at night.
