Prophetic Medicine - Nigella Sativa (Black cumin seeds) - Potential herb for COVID-19?
Honey and Black Seed can help cure COVID-19 faster. Discovery in a new study (Randomized Control Trial) conducted in Pakistan.
Black Seed:
Botanical Name: Nigella Sativa
Common Name: Black Seed or Black Cumin, Black Cumin Seed, or Kalonji Seed
A combination of honey and Black Seed has been found to cure COVID-19 in 6 days, lasting 13 days.
At the same time the mixture gave a negative result in the PCR test 4 days earlier than in the patients who were not given it.
Although many studies have already been done on the medicinal properties of Black Seed and honey, there are few studies that have given positive results on the healing properties of COVID-19. More recently, a study conducted under the supervision of Dr Sohaib Ashraf (principal investigator of this study, and a research fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA) has attracted the attention of many.
The study, published on medrivx, is expected to be published on other popular research sites after peer-reviewed.
Commenting on this, Dr Sohaib Ashraf said, “While the world is struggling to find a cure for COVID-19, we focused on the amazing natural herb that cures it. According to a scientific literature review, a mixture of honey and Black Seed has been shown to be safe against viruses and to provide immunity. (efficacy against viruses and other microbes along with anti-inflammatory, immune-modulotory, anti-coagulant properties and wide range of safety profile.) Both of these in general have been shown to be beneficial for respiratory diseases in several studies.
The properties of honey and Black Seed against COVID-19 are as follows.
Study Method - Study Design:
Period: 2020 May to July.
Location: Lahore, Pakistan
Sample: 313 patients were selected from 4 hospitals in Lahore.
Of these, 210 showed moderate to severe COVID-19. They were found to have cough, fever, sore throat and difficulty in breathing.
The next 103 were those with severe symptoms. They had severe cough and pneumonia.
313 patients were divided into two groups. (Treatment + Placebo)
To the Treatment Group
Honey was mixed with 250ml of water on the basis of 1g / kg / d and divided into 3 portions and given for 13 days.
Similarly, Black Seed was divided into 3 capsules of 80mg / kg / d Capsule and given for 13 days.
The placebo group was given a mere Capsule instead of Black Seed.
In addition to these, routine treatments such as fever, cough medicines, antibiotics, ICUs and ventilators were continued, which were routinely given to all patients.
Results;
A combination of honey and Black Seed has been found to cure COVID-19 in 6 days, lasting 13 days.
At the same time the combination gave a negative result in the PCR test 4 days earlier than in patients who had not been given the drug.
The mortality rate within 30 days was 18.87% for those who were not given the drug and 4% for those who were given the drug.
Conclusion:
Commenting on the study, Dr Sohaib Ashraf commented that the study was surprisingly successful. However, he says more large-scale research is needed to prove its effectiveness. He noted that the study would continue elsewhere in Pakistan.
This has been demonstrated in a study published in the popular medical journal PubMed by Peer Review, a compilation of more than 50 studies (over 50 studies) on Black Seed and its antiviral, immunomodulatory, and anti-COVID-19 meta-analysis.
